No first-choice goalkeeper for Ghana’s 2014 World Cup yet – Nasamu

With four months left to the start of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Nasamu Yakubu the goalkeepers’ coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars has categorically stated that he does not have a ‘permanent number one’ yet.

Nasamu Yakubu who was explaining the decision to rest recent number one Fatau Dauda from the international friendly against Montenegro on March 5 says he can only stick his neck out on who will be Ghana’s first choice after the Black Stars complete their preparations for the mundial at their Los Angeles camp base later in June.

Ashgold fans want Bashir Hayford out

Following their third straight defeat in the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier league, followers of Ashantigold fc are calling for the dismissal of both its head coach Bashir Hayford and CEO Cudjoe Fianoo with immediate effect.

The miners have lost their last three league matches against Bechem United, Hasaacas and Berekum Chelsea respectively an action that has not gone down well with its teeming fans who are calling for the head of both the coach and the CEO.


Asamoah Gyan scores classic winner in Asian Champions League

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan scored a thunderous winner and helped to set up another goal to help Al Ain defeat mega-spending Qatari club Lekhwiya 2-1 in the Asian Champions League in the UAE on Wednesday night.

Ibrahim Diaky gave the hosts the lead in the 12th minute at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium but it did not prove to be a comfortable half with the Qataris finding an equaliser through Vladimir Weiss before the break.

Stephen Adams grateful to God for Black Stars call-up

Black Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams says he is grateful to God for his call-up into the senior national team for a friendly against Montenegro next month.

The Aduana Stars goalkeeper has been included in the squad announced by coach Kwesi Appiah on Monday for the friendly with the Brave Falcons on 5 March.


GFA:World Cup Budget will be made public at the appropriate time

The Ghana Football Association( GFA)remains tight lipped about the total amount in the budget presented to the Youth and Sports Ministry for the Black Stars participation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

There have been speculations that the Ghana FA has made an initial budget over 20 million dollars to the Ministry for approval.

Asante Kotoko’s early exit from CAF Champions League has led to several criticisms from the club’s teeming fans, with some calling for the sack of Coach Masud Dramani and accused goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye of allowing in a “cheap goal” with five minutes to end the continental club assignment after accepting a bribe of about US$ 3,000 from Liberian club Barrack Young Controllers.

But, following these fall outs, very few fans have not had the chance to witness the reaction of Kotoko players after the two time African champion was bundled out of the CAF Champions League.

Ghana, Germany and Portugal have one spot to fight for - a confident US coach

United States coach Juergen Klinsmann believes his side will turf out Germany, Portugal or Ghana in the first round of the World Cup in Brazil in June.

The German trainer says the Black Stars must fight with Germany and Portugal to clinch the group’s other automatic ticket to the second round of the competition.
